HummingBirds!

So the last few days have been crazy with hummingbirds at my back porch. At the beginning of summer I had put up one feeder and had one hummingbird the first day and then the next day I had about 8 and then I had about 30. Then they went away. Must have migrated north. Now they must be migrating back down south and this time there must be about 50 of them. I have never had that many before so it is really neat. I have run out of sugar and must pick some up today when I go to town.
My recipe is simple. Just one cup of sugar to 4 cups of water and that's it. They seem to love it. Here is a photo and video of them at the feeder.

Sold to Israel!

Well, we can now call ourselves International Sellers. We sold two of our mares to a man in Israel. They already left and are at their new home. What a process for exporting! There were several tests to do within several weeks and lots of paperwork. I have to give my vets office a lot of credit for taking care of all of that. Johara and Ameenah is who left us and I am already missing them. How could you not miss girls like them. They are so beautiful and both had such great personalities. Johara was the first baby born on my farm and I just can't believe she is no longer here. It will take sometime to get used to her being gone and of course Ameenah too. Who know maybe I will get to visit them one day!
Photo is of Johara and I!

Round Top Antique Show

Every year Mom and I go to the Round Top Antique show. This year is no different except we are bringing along my Aunt Helen and my niece Bentley.  This is the time of year that all the famous wildflowers are starting to bloom. We haven't had much rain but I have seen a few of them already. Maybe we will get some cute photos of Bentley sitting in the flowers. So now Off To The Show!

The New Garden

I have been wanting a garden for quite some time now. We had one the year before last but it was unsuccessful. Not in a good place for one thing and lots of weeding to do and I just couldn't do it with my back being so bad. We didn't have one last year because of my back so this year we are going to try and do the container gardening. Looking forward to have some of my own home grown vegetables and I am doing Weight Watchers so this will come in handy for this diet. So this is how my husband made my little spot by the house for me to put my containers.

He laid down this mesh stuff. He told me the name of it but I forgot what it is called. This will keep the weeds from growing up between the containers.

I couldn't resist this one. Hummm! Then he put the border around it by screwing the post together and then leveling them.
Then he put pea gravel over the mesh tarp and filled it up level with the post.
He then put some of my containers on top of the pea gravel. This looks great and it will be very easy for me to plant my veggies and keep up with them.

Times sure does fly!

Wow, Where does the time go. So much has happened on the farm lately. We haven't hardly had time to breathe. We done horse shows, had two new babies, I had my back procedure done. My daughter got herself a new puppy and so did we. Mine isn't a puppy anymore. I went through some photos and will post some tomorrow so ya'll can see what we have been up too. Oh, and I almost forgot one of the best time we have had here. Farmgirls on the Loose in Texas. It was a blast!
